Antique cars and proud owners making their 52nd annual pilgrimage to Autumn Trails and Thee Hubbell House B&B. Such a popular weekend it is the only weekend we require a two-night minimum stay and every year nearly every guest reserves the same room for the following year. Over the years we have developed friendships with many of the guests until they seem more like family. It is always a thrill to see their vintage automobiles gracing our parking lot. We look forward to seeing them all again next year.

New Winnsboro Event: Third Friday of Every Month

Come to The Depot in downtown Winnsboro for the May 21st & 22nd "3rd Friday" Art Festival. At The Depot (100 E Broadway/Hwy11), and the surrounding area, festivities will be Friday, May 21st from 11am-7pm, and Saturday, May 22nd, from 11am-6pm. Bring music, dance, performance, painting, prints, photography, weaving/textiles, and hand-crafted ceramics, sculpture and jewelry. Registration is required, but no vendor fees will be charged to participants. No food vendors, please. The public is invited. Come shop, dine, support the arts, and join in the festivities. A Hubbell House guest brings us history

When a recent guest discovered that Thee Hubbell House property was once owned by Robert E Lee's cousin and that Colonel Stinson (the mansion builder & Governor Hogg's father-in-law) had fought for the Confederacy in Georgia - where his mansion was burned to the ground - he graciously gave us this beautiful antique colored print of General Robert E Lee, on his horse, from their antique shop in Hurst (DFW mid-cities). He said he just felt it was the right place for it.

Farmers Market comes to Winnsboro

Congratulations to Denise Miranda, a good friend of ours here at Thee Hubbell House. She is working with City Hall to spearhead a new Farmer's Market in Winnsboro. The Farmer's Market begins April 3rd though October and will take place every Saturday under the covered Jack Cross Pavilion at City Park. Holland Days

The past few days we've had three guests visit from the Netherlands, some 5000 miles away. Two special young ladies visiting family stayed with us for 5 nights and gave me these gifts of appreciation. The cow is a refrigerator magnet from the famous Delft Pottery in The Netherlands. It's a thrill for them to stay here and for us as well. We often offer very special rates for guests staying longer than one night (just ask). We have made some very special friends, over the years, which we still keep in touch with. It makes it all worthwhile!

Line Drying: An Old Fresh Concept

During your stay at the Hubbell House you may just be able to smell a sweet breeze in your towel as you dry, or in your bed linen as you lay down to rest. That's because when nature allows, we tend to do things the old fashioned way. Line drying is a lost art but recent articles in the LA times and other publications suggest it's may be making a comeback. Much of this has to do with the desire to reduce energy, save dollars, and of course, go Green. For Hubbell House its a long standing tradition that allows us to add to your comfort and make your stay that much more pleasant and memorable.

Spring finally in sight

Weather wise February here was brutal. We had it all, snow, hail, freezing temperatures, and tons and tons of rain. So it was good to step outside yesterday and finally see the sun shining and flowers beginning to bloom. Our forecast looks really good for the next few days and many in Winnsboro will agree: we earned it. Come and enjoy it with us! The pool is open and warm enough (for some) to take a dip. Even if the water is still a little too cold, it is a great place to relax with family & friends and enjoy the weather!

Kosher with us and Keller's Creamery

A rabbi must oversee the ingredients going into the batches before it can be labeled and sold as kosher. The rabbi come's every year for a month to oversee the kosher butter manufacturing at Keller's Creamery here in Winnsboro. For the last few years the rabbi has been David Ganz. He is from Philadelphia and often rides his motorcycle here but this year they were waist deep in snow and he couldn't ride his motorbike. Many of the local merchants know him and enjoy his arrival every year and he's one of our favorite guests here at the Hubbell House.

Lake Fork's renowned monster Bass begin their annual spawn over the next several weeks and Bass fisherman will once again be out in full force attempting to capture a Fork trophy.

Hubbell House is a short 15 minute drive to Lake Fork and we are long standing members of Lake Fork's Chamber of Commerce - so as always we'd like to say: if you're planning a trip to wet the line, please keep Hubbell House in mind.

The History behind Hubbell House

The property upon which Thee Hubbell House Estate is located was once part of a land grant of several thousand acres which was made in 1835 by General Sam Houston, commander in Chief of the Territory of Texas. By 1871, General Robert E. Lee’s cousin, B.W. Lee, bought fifty acres of this land for $500 in gold. Read More
